Ants
From fire ants to crazy ants — we cover them all.
Identification
South Texas hosts red imported fire ants, Tawny crazy ants, carpenter ants, sugar ants, and Argentine ants. Each has different habits and requires different baits.
Behavior & habitat
Fire ants build dome mounds and swarm aggressively when disturbed. Crazy ants form supercolonies with no defined nest. Carpenter ants tunnel through wet wood without eating it.
Health & property risks
Fire ant stings cause painful welts and dangerous allergic reactions. Crazy ants short out electrical equipment. Carpenter ants weaken structural lumber.
Signs of infestation
- • Visible foraging trails along baseboards or counters
- • Dirt mounds in lawns (fire ants)
- • Sawdust piles near baseboards (carpenter ants)
- • Sudden swarm of winged reproductives indoors
Prevention tips
- Eliminate sweet, greasy, and protein food sources indoors
- Trim vegetation and tree limbs touching the house
- Seal cracks in foundation and around utility penetrations
- Address moisture issues that attract carpenter ants
How Black Ops treats it
We identify the species first, then deploy targeted bait granules, non-repellent perimeter sprays, and direct mound treatments. Quarterly service prevents reinfestation.
