Wasps
Aggressive stingers that defend their nests hard.
Identification
Smooth-bodied (vs. fuzzy bees) with narrow waists. Paper wasps build umbrella-shaped nests; yellow jackets nest in ground holes or wall voids; mud daubers build tube-like clay nests.
Behavior & habitat
Paper wasps are mildly aggressive near nests; yellow jackets are highly aggressive and can sting repeatedly. Activity peaks late summer when colonies are largest.
Health & property risks
Multiple stings can be life-threatening for the 5% of people allergic to wasp venom. Even non-allergic individuals can suffer severe local reactions.
Signs of infestation
- • Visible nests under eaves, in attics, or in wall voids
- • Wasps entering and exiting a single hole in siding or ground
- • Increased wasp traffic around grills, trash cans, or sweet drinks
Prevention tips
- Seal cracks and crevices in siding, soffits, and around utility entries
- Keep trash bins covered and clean of food residue
- Inspect for early-season nests in spring before colonies grow
How Black Ops treats it
We knock down accessible nests with residual dust, treat wall voids and ground nests directly, and apply preventive eave sprays during summer.
